South Eastern Counties Toy Dog Society Display Team

Rabart's World of Dogs Christmas Bazaar was held over the weekend of 24/25th November, 2001, in the Bingley Hall, Stafford County Showground. The event included entertainment, and S.E.C.T.D.S. Display Team were invited to take part. Demonstrations of varying types were given for Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme, Paws N Music, PAT Dogs and Bernese Mountain Carter Dogs.
The one and only Mary Rae, with her dog, gave a wonderful performance of heelwork to music and, of course, it is really hard to follow that. Between us, S.E.C.T.D.S. demonstrated various excercises and training, in obedience and agility, over both days of the event. Our reward was having our photograph in Dog World. What a thrill.
This time, members of the team were:-
- Selena Lund from Ormskirk, Lancs. with Charlie and Albert, both Pekingese.
Ann Stilgoe, daughter Tiggy and grandson Adam (7yrs old) from Grantham, Lincs. with their four Papillons, Ark, Kiwi, Raggy and Jay.
Paula West from Laindon, Essex with Dash, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Pat Ross (Team Leader) from Edmonton, North London with Miko, a Papillon (puppy) and
Me (Penny) from Callander, Perthshire, Scotland, with Robbie and Angus, both Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
South Eastern Counties Toy Dog Society is not a club, and the members only see each other, at the Society's twice yearly shows. Practise is impossible, coming from such vast distances, so there is no rehearsal. All parts of the demonstration are spontaneous and mainly individual. We know we lack the 'polish' that is achieved by those regularly meeting and practising together, but nonetheless, we hope to show, that Toy dogs are just as able, as their larger cousins.
We are grateful to all the organisations, that have given S.E.C.T.D.S. the opportunity to promote activities, with Toy dog. However, no invitations could be accepted without the support and dedication of all the S.E.C.T.D.S. team members, who freely give their time to travel such long distances to these venues. Long may we continue to do so.
