KENNEL CLUB RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Dogs entered at Kennel Club licensed Obedience Shows must be registered at the Kennel Club in accordance with Kennel Club Regulations for Classification and Registration B.
  2. Entry is limited to TOY GROUP Dog Breeds Only.
  3. Dogs which have won an Obedience Certificate or obtained any award that counts towards the title of Obedience Champion under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club are not eligible for entry at this Show.
  4. (a) The Show will open at 0900hrs
    (b) Judging will commence at 0930hrs
  5. (a) In classes without a full running order dogs will be received until one hour after the commencement of judging (1030hrs) after which no dogs may be received except under unforeseen and exceptional circumstances and by special permission of the Show Management.
    (b) Where dogs are entered solely in classes with a full running order they will be received at any time. It is the exhibitors' responsibility to ensure that exhibits are available for judging when required.
  6. The Show will close half an hour after all judging has been completed.
  7. Entry Fees:
    1. Non-Members: £5.50 first entry per dog; £2.00 subsequent entry with same dog.
    2. Members: £5.00 first entry per dog; £2.00 subsequent entry with same dog.
    3. Membership Fees: £2.00 Single; £2.50 Joint.
    4. Membership Fees: 5 years - £7.50 Single; £8.00 Joint. (2008-2012 inclusive)
  8. Prize money is NOT on offer at this show.
  9. The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries.
  10. All dogs registered and resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.
  11. Animals Allowed in Event.
    No animal other than one officially entered shall be brought into the precincts of the event during its continuance, except any dogs registered to assist the disabled, or dogs required for educational or instructional purposes, or by permission of the General Committee.
    However, at the discretion of the show society, a dog brought to the show by a spectator may be admitted into the precincts of the dog show, with the proviso that those in charge of the dog sign a declaration confirming the dog is free from disease and that the dog will be kept under proper control at all times.
  12. Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the Show are not eligible for competition at Kennel Club licensed Obedience Shows.
  13. The mating of bitches within the precincts of the Show is strictly forbidden.
  14. No bitch in season is allowed to compete.
  15. A dog shall be disqualified and removed from the Show if it is:-
    1. A bitch which is in season.
    2. Suffering from any infectious or contagious disease.
    3. Interfering with the safety or chance of winning of an opponent.
    4. Of such temperament or is much out of hand as to be a danger to the safety of any person or other animal.
    5. Likely to cause suffering to the dog if it continues competing.
  16. After a dog has commenced competing in a Class, no substitution of handler is permitted in that Class.
  17. No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling of a dog at any time within the boundaries of the Show.
  18. Should a judge be unable to fulfil the appointment to judge the Committee reserves the right to appoint another judge.
  19. No competitor shall impugn the decision of the Judge or Judges.
  20. Should circumstances so dictate the Society, in consultation with the judges, may alter arrangements as necessary. Such changes and circumstances surrounding them must be reported to the Kennel Club.
  21. The maximum number of entries allowed in any class is 60. If the entry received exceeds 60, except for Championship Class C, the class shall be equally divided (to within one dog) by a draw. If the resulting individual class entry, after division, exceeds 60 a further division of the total class entry shall take place so that each equal division of the class is 60 or less. In all classes, other than Championship Clas C, if the entry exceeds 50 the class may, at the discretion of the Society, be equally divided by a draw (to within one dog). If the resulting individual class entry, after division, exceeds 50 a further division of the total entry may take place so that each equal division of the class is 50 or less. Prize money for each division (which must be judged separately) shall be the same as that offered for the original class.
  22. Where classes are divided, competitors entered therein shall be notified of all changes and timed stay exercises must not be held earlier than advertised for the original class.
  23. Where timed stays will take place it must be announced in the Schedule that they will take priority over other tests. The times of such tests to be published at the Show and in the Catalogue. Timed stays must not commence before one hour after the published time for the commencement of judging.
  24. For the duration of the Show, and including those in the exercise area, all dogs must be on a lead except when competing or practising prior to competition.
  25. Ballot for Running Orders
    (i) In classes where a complete or partial running order has been made the relevant competitors must be notified before the day of the Show.
    (ii) In classes where there is not a full running order all competitors must personally report to the ringside of all classes entered and book in, by marking a list of entries, within one hour of the scheduled time for the commencement of judging of the Class. In Classes where a full running order has been made competitors must book in on arrival at the Show. The class lists are to be provided by the Show Management and should be available from the stated opening time of the Show. Wherever possible Ring Scoreboard Stewards shall be appointed to assist with this booking in procedure.
    (iii) All published running orders must be strictly observed. Competitors reporting late will be excluded from competition unless they have previously reported to the Chief Steward that they are actually working a dog in the Stay test of another class.
  26. No dog shall be allowed in the judging ring other than those competing in the class being judged.
  27. Nothing may be carried, worn or displayed by a handler or a dog during judging which is capable of indicating the identity of the dog or owner, nor must anything be said or any action taken which identifies the dog other than by exhibit number.
  28. Any dog which is not presented for stay or scent exercises when called for testing will be considered to have withdrawn from the class.
  29. After commencement of judging the responsibility for dogs being brought to the ring to compete is entirely the competitors.
  30. Food shall not be carried or given to a dog under test.
  31. All offers of sponsorship or donation must be included with the name of the sponsors.
  32. In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members' classes or competing for Members' Specials each partner must at the time of entry be a member of the Society.
  33. The use of cooking stoves in the proximity of tenting and benching areas is forbidden except as authorised by the Show Management. (Not applicable)
  34. No modifications will be made to this schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.
  35. Not for competition entries will be accepted for dogs aged four calendar months and over. Dogs must be Kennel Club registered with their full details recorded on the entry form.
  36. Dogs in Cars on Hot Days Notice:
    Your dog is vulnerable and AT RISK if left in a vehicle in high temperatures and even on days considered slightly warm. Please take care of your dog. If your dog is found to be at risk forcible entry to your vehicle may be necessary without liability for any damage caused.


DEFINITION OF RULES
  1. Dogs are ineligible to compete at Limited Shows which have won an Obedience Certificate or obtained any award that counts towards the title of Obedience Champion, under the rules of any governing body recognised by The Kennel Club. Obedience Champions are only eligible to compete in Class C at Open and Championship Shows.
  2. A dog must be entered in the lowest scheduled class for which it eligible and may also be entered in another class if desired, one special class excepted.
    Exemptions from this regulation are: A dog entered in a YKC Obedience Class which may also be entered in a maximum of two other scheduled classes (including YKC classes) for which is is eligible.
  3. In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of entries shall be counted when entering for any class, i.e. 17th APRIL 2008.
  4. Societies may schedule classes other than those defined below. The eligibility for "Special" classes must be defined by the Society and included in the schedule. The word "Special" must be included in the title of the class.
  5. In the following definitions of classes first prize wins in Limited Show Obedience Classes and Open Shows confined to one breed do not count for entry in Open and Championship Show Obedience Classes but do count for eligibility at Limted Obedience Shows or Open Shows confined to one breed.

PRE-BEGINNERS:

To compete in Pre-Beginners a handler or dog must not have won a First Prize in either Pre-Beginners or Beginners nor gained a third place or above in any other obedience class.

BEGINNERS:

To compete in Beginners a handler or dog must not have won a total of two or more First Prizes in Beginners Class, or one First Prize in any other Obedience Class. (Pre-Beginners excepted).

NOVICE:

For dogs which have not won two First Prizes in Obedience Classes. (Pre-Beginners and Beginners excepted).

CLASS 'A':

For dogs which have not won three First Prizes in Class A, B and Open C in total.

CLASS 'B':

For dogs which have not won three first prizes in Class B and Open C in total.

KENNEL CLUB RULES AND REGULATIONS - ANNEX A

Dog in Cars on Hot Days
Show Schedule Notice.

Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the folowing guidance to help guide you through the do's and don'ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events.

  • When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.
  • If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whethertravelling to the show is a good idea at all.
  • The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plentyof stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink.
  • Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog.
  • When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.
  • Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so you dog stays well hydrated.
  • Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog's welfare.

WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog's health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.

Right to Refuse Entries. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry.




Please Note:


NO dogs may be entered, even for training rounds as Not For Competition in a class lower than that eligible. See Definitions of Classes.

"Not for Competition" is defined as not taking part in any classes at the show and ONLY TOY GROUP dogs are eligible for this status at a fee of £2.00 per dog. Entry is to be made in the usual manner and clearly marked NFC.

Dogs for The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme ONLY, must be entered in the usual manner with the correct fee and clearly marked KCGC.
